Complete Home Renovation
Stages of construction
In addition to adding a level to the existing house my client wanted to add some charm and "old house" personality to the facade.
A round copper roof over the entry door with a window on either side. Above the 2 windows are decorative brackets.
The kitchen, moved to the front of the house has a flower box underneath. A second floor bedroom has a triple window.
The attic gable gets a change of siding, fish scales instead of planks, and a round top window.
As you enter the front hall, you are greeted with a sophisticated slate tile floor. There are two coat closets.
The powder room located to your immediate right has its' own window to let in some natural light.

Completed Kitchen
The final kitchen includes a peninsula, and lots of natural light. There is a decorative hood over the range. Behind the range applied to the wall is a sheet metal tin surface. All the metal surfaces in the kitchen are stainless or brushed metal. This includes the light fixtures and the knobs on the cabinets. On the wall opposite the range is another focal point. A raised cabinet with glass doors. The peninsula is the homeowners favorite blue color. A beadboard theme runs throughout, on the peninsula, the backsplash as well as behind some open shelves. All the cabinets are semi custom and supplied by JKD Construction Products in Bernardsville. The countertop is a dark grey polished Silestone.

A major decision went into the planning of the first floor also a main gathering place for the family. I grouped the kitchen and the powder room together towards the front corner. This move allowed the shared living space a more open plan. Now there is flexibility in furniture size and layout. Large gatherings with friends and famiy will be a cinch because of the open plan.
